The Center for Global Engagement facilitates education abroad, immigration services, intensive English instruction, international partnerships and related functions that empower UMBC to extend beyond borders. 

Position Overview:

The Assistant Director of International Recruitment provides coordination and support for the University’s efforts to identify, recruit, admit, and enroll international students in all of its academic programs. Part of the Center for Global Engagement (CGE), this position will work closely with multiple campus stakeholders to achieve the University’s strategic international enrollment goals and to develop and implement an international recruitment plan. This position
reports to the Director of Global Partnerships.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, recruit, and communicate with prospective international student applicants in an accurate and timely manner; Communicate with recruitment partners to convert prospective students to enrollments.
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of an international student recruitment plan to meet strategic international enrollment goals in collaboration with campus stakeholders and external recruitment partners.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with a variety of people and organizations such as vendors, international student placement agencies, EducationUSA advisors, scholarship bodies, and international school counselors. 
  • Represent UMBC (in-person and virtually) both domestically and internationally at international recruitment fairs, webinars, events, and associated activities. Assist with the hosting of existing and prospective recruitment partners and vendors for campus visits.
  • Work with key campus stakeholders and external recruitment partners to develop new, and enhance existing communication platforms and systems to optimize international student recruitment and yield.
  • Track, analyze and report data pertaining to international recruitment, admissions and enrollment trends.
  • Serve on various campus committees and working groups.
  • Support strategic initiatives, special projects, and reporting within the CGE. 
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • One year of experience working in admissions, student recruitment, or international education
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
  • Interest in working with people from different cultural, academic, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Possession of/ability to attain a valid passport and travel internationally.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master's degree
  • Two or more years of experience working in international recruitment in a higher education context
  • Professional working proficiency in one language in addition to English
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other customer relationship management platforms
  • Knowledge of Peoplesoft or other student information systems
