About the Position:

Description of Position:

The Ab-Ext Instructor (Lecturer) is responsible for updating and teaching the entire curriculum for their Sonography specialty, both in the classroom and in the scan lab. The Ab-Ext Instructor must also discuss student progress with the Clinical Coordinator for their Sonography specialty, so that the Clinical Coordinator may assign effective clinical rotations for the students. The candidate is the subject matter expert for the assigned specialty and ensures the program maintains an effective and relevant clinical curriculum. Specific duties include:

• Teach assigned courses (in the classroom and the scan lab) in alignment with the NEC and CAAHEP Standards to include: review and update course content, use Learning Management System and Trajecsys effectively, maintain and report grades, provide counseling to students relating to academic and scan lab instruction, report any student issues to Program Chair/Director, make necessary revisions to curriculum with Program Director’s approval.
• Perform administrative support work such as: review supply needs of scan lab; create spreadsheets with student information, course evaluations and surveys when necessary; assist with admissions and interview process of prospective students; and file and maintain mandatory paperwork required by program.
• Participate in all information sessions and annual orientation of new students. Participate in graduation ceremony and other program events.
• Assist with sonography program self-study for re-accreditation and any other duties assigned by Program Director.

This is a 32 hour per week position.

Minimum Qualifications:

A.S. /A.A. degree and ARDMS or CCI active status credential in the appropriate specialty (RDMS AB), and a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Applicant must possess excellent computer skills; the ability to display competence in teaching academic and clinical skills; the ability to develop an organized plan of instruction and evaluation. Applicant is a good-standing member of professional organizations, maintains current CME status and exhibits professional development skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

B.S. /B.A. degree, additional appropriate specialty credentials (RDMS OB), three to five years full-time clinical experience, and previous teaching/clinical instructorship experience.

Salary Range: $69,000 - $76,000 (based on 32 hours per week) commensurate with experience.
