| Position Overview: |
Within the Digital Scholarship Services Unit, the Library Services Technician supports the ongoing work to correct UMBC author affiliations in publishers’ metadata, and bibliographic and citation databases. The Library Services Technician assists with the daily functions of the UMBC digital repository, ScholarWorks@UMBC. This position is responsible for training and checking the work of student assistants working on affiliation corrections and the digital repository.

| Responsibilities: |

Identifies erroneous UMBC author affiliations in publisher metadata and bibliographic and citation databases (ex. Scopus and Web of Science); contacts publishers and works with them to make corrections; works with UMBC departments and/or reporting agencies to correct institutional name variants (ex. UMB vs UMBC); supports outreach to educate faculty about correcting their affiliation in published research; collects data related to corrections and rankings.

Trains student assistants and checks their processing, metadata, and affiliation correction work for accuracy.

Processes potential submissions to ScholarWorks@UMBC and updates and corrects records in the database.

Completes descriptive metadata describing works and their authors.

Follows established procedures to manipulate data sets to transform them for loading into ScholarWorks@UMBC.

Communicates with faculty about potential and completed submissions to ScholarWorks@UMBC.

| Required Minimum Qualifications: |
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
|
| Preferred Qualifications: |
- Experience working with a library repository system.
- Experience using spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets)
|

| Salary: |
Pay Range 07 (minimum: $24.82 per hour / maximum: $27.43 per hour) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
